The main locations of were my film is being filmed is in a house, the rooms that are used are the living room, bedroom and the stairs.

This film inspired me as it follows the connotations of a diary entry and thiis how I would like my film to be. I like the idea of a diary as it follows the narrative of one character and it makes the film more personal.

Lizzie Mcguire

Lizzie Mcguire is a film that has inspired me and gave me ideas of what to do with my own film. I like the use of animation within this film, I find it very interesting how they have used an animation lizzie through the film it adds more humour to the film. I am going to add animation to my film as I think that it will work really well in my film.

Target Audience

The tagrget audience for the film that I am creating is girls aged 14-20. The type of girls that I am targeting at are girly girls who enjoy going shopping, going to the cinema, having boyfirends, reading magazines so they have the latest gossip about celebrities.

Why people like rom-coms

Another reason for why people enjoy watching rom-coms is becasue of the girlieness shown in the films. This scene in the film Princess Diaries 2 is showing a girly sleepover, this adds the fun aspect to the film.

This is a video showing many diffreent romantic moments in the film Cinderella Story. Romance in rom-coms is one of the reasons people watch them as it makes them feel happy.

Questionaire

I created a questionairre to give to a variety of different girls that fitted in to the critera of my target audience. There was a variety of different questions on the questionaire. I created this questionairre as it willl help me with what I should put into my film as it will let me know what the target audience like to see in a film. Below is some of the results that I got back from the questionaires.

Rom-Com

The genre that I have chosen for my short film is a romantic comedy. The target audience for this will be teenage girls aged between 14-20.

Main Film Genres

Action
Action films are often high energy films which include many chases, fights, escapes and crises. They are usually big budget hollywood films. One of the most popular actions films is James Bond.
Adventure
Adventure films are very similar to action films. Adventure films often include searches/expeditions for something lost. The expeditions often take place in a desert or a jungle. A popular adventure film is Pirates of the Caribean.
Comedies
Comedy films are made to amuse the audience by making them laugh at different situations that occur throughout the films. They often make the audience laugh by exaggerating situations, language used in the films, the action created, relationships within the films and the characters. A well known comedy is Step Brothers.
Crime
These films are also often known as gangsta films. Crime films look at the action of criminals who are mostly bank robbers. The characters usuallly steal or murder there way through life and dont take any care of laws that have been made. Crime films are often characterized as film noir. A great crime film is The Shawnshank Redemption.
Drama
Drama films follow realistic characters, settings and life situations. These type of films often involve intense character development and interaction. A good drama film is The Godfather.
Historical
Historical films are also known as epic films. These types of films show historical dramas and war films. Epic films take an historical event and add extravagent setting to them along with more drama. A good historical film is The Kings Speech.
Horror
Horror films are made to put the audience on edge and make them feel terrified. Horror films cover a variety of different styles from the classics to today were they look at monsters. Horror films are often combined with science fiction, also there are many different sub-genres inside horrors. A popular horror film is Dawn of the Dead.
Romance
These films follow love stories of characters in the film. These types of films follow passion, emotion and romance. There are sub-genres taht are found in romance films and these are romantic dramas and romantic comedies. A popular romance film is Romeo and Juilet.

I have been looking at many different short films on the internet to help give me ideas of what I should put into the short film that I create. This is one of the short films that I had looked at (Four Tet) this is a very creative piece of work and a lot of hard work has been put in to create this.

What you should see in short films

A short film should only involve a few main characters as if there is more the film tends to get to complicated and the audience are not able to follow the film very easily. Also in a short film there should always be a twist in the plot as this engages the audience and allows them not lose interest in the film. They should usually last for about 0-5 minutes and the budget of the films is normally low as they dont have the same funding as the usual big budget hollywood films.
